Position Summary

The Director of Technical Sales will provide customer support and technical engineering solutions by serving as a liaison between the customer’s Engineering Group and MMT’s Sales Team. They will provide technical design guidance for manufacturing recommendations and present new product development solutions (and tooling). This position will work closely with MMT’s estimating/engineering, Customer Service, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial Teams, as well as established manufacturer’s representative agencies in their associated territories.

Develop and implement sales strategies in the context of the greater VSC Precision Medical organization including Wytech and future acquisitions. Successfully drive the strategic commercial plan that will help grow the business, by identifying and developing new business opportunities for MMT and the greater organization, including managing and expanding existing accounts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Establish and maintain current and future customer relationships.
    • Understand the product requirements, such as tooling, mandrels, micromachining, and how they are used within each market application, such as tooling used for heat-setting, mandrels used for extrusion or catheter construction, or micro-machining used for interventional delivery systems.
    • Travel as needed to expand on and provide continued support to the existing Mountain Manufacturing customer base.
    • Provide the customer with real-time evolving solutions throughout all projects considered by demonstrating a can-do approach.
    • Attending industry conferences to promote capabilities and drive MMT brand in market as advanced technical solutions partner for precision machined components.
    • Identify cross-selling opportunities for the VSC Precision Medical Organization and help facilitate those opportunities and discussions between the appropriate customer contact and internal commercial contact.
  2. Evaluate print specifications including GD&T and provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) recommendations that create a successful partnership between the customer and MMT.
    • Proficient in all MMT manufacturing equipment and processes, including outside services.
    • Broad knowledge of materials and processes such as material treatment conditions, surface finishes (coatings), passivation, chemical deburring etc.
    • Work side-by-side with customers in real-time to develop solutions for their technical problems.
  3. Participate in the Contract Review process of all relevant Sales Orders, identify customer needs and effectively communicate and resolve any discrepancies. Ensure all customer specifications are communicated to relative departments.
  4. Obtain cost and time estimates from internal engineer department for the purpose of producing product quotations which reflect cost efficacy and delivery estimates in a realistic time frame.
  5. Present the proposal with the intent to win the subsequent order or provide voice of the customer feedback to internal stakeholders within MMT organization.
    • Document outcome in a visit/call report or in Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  6. Provide non-proprietary engineering support to customers regarding questions related to Quotations and Orders.
  7. Work together with the Quality Systems Manager to investigate customer returns and/or complaints per our internal Customer Complaint procedures.
  8. Facilitate customer driven expedites and change order requests.
  9. Manage multiple customers, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  10. Learn and utilize the company ERP system.
  11. Review and track customer forecasts to company budget
  12. Other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and interpretation of Blueprint Reading including GD&T.
  • Expert in the knowledge of precision machining, manufacturing methods and processes including outside vendor services within the medical device market.
  • Skillful knowledge of various inspection equipment and techniques.
  • Proficient in the understanding of medical devices, raw materials and required treatments including heat treat, stress relieving, coatings, passivation, electropolishing.
  • Computer software knowledge (ERP/JobBoss, Microsoft Office, SolidWorks, CAD/CAM etc.) and online information navigation skills.

Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the MMT Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality Inspection Supervisor. They are responsible for managing key QMS metrics and ensuring QMS processes are adequately defined and implemented, meeting regulatory and company requirements. They provide expertise on regulatory requirements for the business. They use information gathered from audits, corrective actions, inspection data and observations to initiate and drive continuous improvement within the QMS. Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and leadership consistent with the organization’s values and principles and holds all direct reports accountable to the same standards.
  • Represents MMT as the Quality System Management Representative.
  • Manages key QMS processes including but not limited to Change Control and Record Management, Supplier Controls, Quality Inspection and Product Release, Product Issue Management and CAPA Process, Auditing (internal and external), Training, Quality Agreements and Customer Compliance Support, and Management Review.
  • Champions compliance to QMS and facilitates compliance with all applicable regulatory and company requirements.
  • Compiles and manages Quality System metrics and communication of results to all levels of the organization
  • Support Quality Inspection Supervisor on metrology solutions and inspection challenges.

The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in dimensional and visual inspection techniques commonly used in manufacturing precision machined components.

Area of focus includes but is not limited to:

  • Perform In-Process Inspection (Visual and Dimensional) of tight tolerance precision components, along with the recording and analysis of inspection data.
  • NCR Leader: initiate, investigate, and complete product disposition for nonconforming material per MMT’s NCR (Nonconforming Report) procedure.
  • Other activities may include the support of statistical process control, sampling plans, parts measurement, data analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action, and other Quality System activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform In-Process inspection and support machinist to achieve a high-quality product.

Recognize quality issues and communicate with manufacturing staff and Lead Inspector to resolve per procedure.

NCR Leader: initiate, investigate, communicate with leadership team and complete product disposition for nonconforming material per MMT’s NCR (Nonconforming Report) procedure.

Support the Quality team with ISO 13485 compliance.

Partner with Engineers to support new product development while being processed.

Interface with ERP software, JobBOSS software, and Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel) regularly.

Accurately document all work performed on inspection reports and travelers.

Verify completeness and accuracy of Inspection records to ensure good documentation practices are performed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

5 years or more of quality inspection experience (Quality Inspection, Quality Testing, and Receipt of Materials) in the medical device industry.

Experience working in a regulated environment (GMP, ISO 13485)

Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies

Understand and utilize Acceptance Sampling Plans using AQL sampling and 100% inspection.

Customer focused, results-oriented and displays high energy and enthusiasm (Sense of Urgency)

Knowledge of cGMP and GDP; able to provide coaching.

Displays integrity, ethics, and trust while holding themselves and others accountable.

Planning and scheduling manufacturing operations while working with manufacturing, inventory control, and procurement personnel to ensure that materials and resources are available to meet production goals.

Creating production schedules, monitoring workflow, and analyzing production data to find ways to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize costs.

Assist with monitoring and tracking employees’ time and efficiency by using the JobBOSS MRP software.  This includes training new employees, monitoring and retraining current employees, making manual adjustments as deemed necessary.

The position is full-time; on site, 40+ hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate with Manufacturing Supervisor to prioritize production activities and allocate resources effectively.

Create production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.

Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand or resource availability.

Communicate with purchasing staff to understand outside supplier and vendor service lead times and how they will impact MMT’s product shipment dates.

Review Job requirements to ensure customer requirements are understood and met.

Coordinate with the Manufacturing Supervisor to plan for and successfully execute any schedule changes needed to expedite shipment dates as deemed necessary by the Operations Manager.
